Capricorn (December 23 - January 20)

Capricorn is the 10th sign in the Zodiac and is represented by The Goat. Like goats, Capricorn is able to live and thrive even when the soil around them is bad. Capricorn is considered a feminine or negative sign. Feminine signs are considered more passive, receptive and sensitive than masculine/positive signs.

Element: Earth

Capricorn is one of 3 earth signs in the Zodiac, all of which share the same characteristics. Earth signs are typically solid, dependable, thorough, and responsible. It is the element of strength and growth. The other earth signs in the Zodiac that share these characteristics are Taurus and Virgo.

Planet: Saturn

The rulership of Saturn - the planet representing responsibility, structure and hard work - ensures that Capricorns in their truest of expression, are ambitious, practical and superb organizers.

Personality Trait: "I Use"

The Capricorn person is prudent, responsible, realistic, patient, methodical, disciplined, traditional, cautious, hard-working, ambitious, businesslike, career-oriented, conscientious, and competent. They can also sometimes be rigid, suspicious, status-seeking, demanding, insensitive, inhibited and saturnine. The sign of the high roller, Capricorn is regarded as the zodiac’s top, but also quiet, life and business achievers. However, there are two very different types of Capricorns.

The first type is symbolized as a mountain goat, climbing higher and higher, not happy until it reaches the top. The second type is a garden goat, not very adventurous or ambitious, happy to stay in a small area, not budging unless pushed. Both types are patient and persevering, they reach their goals by putting one foot in front of the other and just keep moving forward.

One difficulty a Capricorn sometimes has is balancing work and play, becoming one sided, and replacing real emotional fulfillment with work related success. Always climbing the mountain of success, Capricorn rises to the occasion when faced with a new task or deadline. Although typically conservative and cautious, a goat is willing to use unusual approaches to get where they are going, much like Capricorn, in both business and love. Romantically, they crave someone to who will give them the affection they need on a permanent basis.
